B&B Antiques is chocked full of eye-catching collectibles and treasures from the past along with lots of “other cool stuff.”You could spend days browsing through the quilts, art, furniture, glassware, lamps - vintage baking supplies to old-fashioned baby strollers - and all the knick-knacks in between and still not see everything. And there’s lots of OBX memorabilia as well, including prints of the old Nags Head Casino, old photos with local fisherman displaying their catches, many beautiful duck decoys and old fishing lures and buoys.There’s a whole section on cooking supplies, including the old mixing bowls they don’t make any more, glass juicers that never lose their appeal and older, but often better, utensils for use or display. Besides antiques and the vintage culinary collection, the other cool stuff includes men’s and women’s jewelry, nice fabric and needlework art - and a whole “cave” of hunting and bar paraphernalia, with old tools, fishing and hunting collectibles and books. The shop also carries local artists’ prints and original paintings and rare and vintage books.Towering over it all stands a gorgeous oak armoire filled with vintage boy scout and other uniforms. Another fine piece of furniture, if it’s still there, is a large world globe and stand, the kind you used to see in libraries.It would be hard to visit B&B and not find something useful or decorative, a great OBX souvenir or the perfect gift for a special friend or family member. You’ll find Barr-ee Station 3 waiting for you where the Boardwalk stops, at the south end of the Waterfront Shops, with it’s restful benches and light refreshments hitting the spot after a long stroll.One can’t help at least taking a peek into this cozy corner shop, with its interesting and inviting décor luring you in from the deck. On display outside the shop are lovely old wicker chairs, wrought iron planters and ornamental pieces, antique tables, old beach cottage shutters, hand crafted birdhouses and artistic metal sculptures of lobsters and mermaids and the like.Inside its pastel walls you’ll find a unique selection of antiques, furniture and gifts and a clothing and swimwear outlet as well. Among other stunning antiques, lovely hand-painted furniture pieces sit atop samples of their gorgeous oriental rug collection. This eclectic ensemble includes lamps, glassware and other smaller treasures, and adorning the walls is a small and very affordable collection of original paintings by local artists. Also available are accessories like throw pillows, scarves, bags and jewelry and many small gift items, some one-of-a-kind.In addition to its regular seasonal discounts, Barr-ee Station 3 runs super sales in the fall, including annual outdoor tent sales during Thanksgiving weekend. The shop is open daily in season, but fall hours and days may vary.

The Outer Banks Family YMCA is a great place for all ages. Programming offered for children, teens, and adults to stay active in mind, body, or spirit. Though COVID-19 restrictions may currently limit the use of the YMCA facility, outdoor fitness, camp and recreational/lap swimming are available to participate in!

This chain store, located next to TJ Maxx in Nags Head, is well organized and has signs pointing customers to the products they need. In addition to standard office necessities, Staples also stocks a large supply of computer equipment and laptops; digital cameras and accessories; Kindle e-readers; digital recorders and GPS; wireless technology and accessories; and smart phone accessories.  There is an excellent selection of computer programs, including for Mac. A variety of desks, file cabinets and rolling desk chairs can be found at the rear of the store.

An offshoot of Kellogg Supply Company, a building and home center operating on the Outer Banks since 1946, The Cottage Shop is filled with beach-y house wares and furnishings designed for Outer Banks living. The store also stocks decorative accessories, gifts for special occasions and holidays, and even stylish hats and sandals. Whatever a homeowner needs for their beach cottage, they’ll likely be able to find it here. There’s kitchen ware, sheets and bedding, bath items, outdoor carpeting, candles, Outer Banks and Southern cookbooks, lamps, decorative pillows and even gourmet salsa and grits. There is also a large selection of Tervis Tumblers, and open stock of Fiesta ware. Kellogg also offers all-inclusive Cottage Package programs, as well as kitchen, bedding, bath and recreational packages. Hours differ at the Duck location, so call before visiting.

The first hospital on the barrier islands, The Outer Banks Hospital is a full service facility offering in-patient and out-patient care.  Since it opened in March 2002, the hospital has met the health needs of a year-round population of about 35,000 that expands to more than 250,000 at the height of the tourism season.  The Outer Banks Hospital has 21 comfortably-furnished private rooms, with two of its beds designed for mothers to stay in all stages of birth: labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum.  There are also two operating rooms for general surgery and another for Caesarian sections.
